Manifesto & Policy Areas
UYP's policy positions are being developed in twelve thematic areas. Draft and approved positions will be clearly labelled as they are published.
Draft Policy Commitments. These policy commitments are draft proposals and open for public consultation. Detailed policy papers with sources and indicators will be published after editorial and organizational review.
Education and Skills
Draft commitments
- Improve access to quality education across public and low-fee schools
- Promote digital literacy from the primary level onwards
- Support continuous teacher development and mentorship
- Expand skills-based and vocational learning pathways
Youth Employment

- Support entrepreneurship through mentorship and access to finance
- Career development programs linked to labour-market demand
- Industry–academia collaboration on internships and applied research
- Support for freelancers and the digital services economy
Governance

- Transparency in public spending and procurement
- Public accountability of elected and appointed officials
- Expand digital government services to reduce citizen friction
- Strengthen local government as the primary tier of service delivery
Health and Social Protection

- Work towards universal access to essential health services
- Youth mental-health awareness and support programs
- Social inclusion of persons with disabilities and marginalized groups
- Preventive health, nutrition, and immunization awareness
Technology

- National push for digital literacy and safe internet use
- Support a healthy innovation ecosystem for startups and researchers
- Responsible and rights-respecting use of AI and digital platforms
- Open data initiatives for public institutions
Economy

- Support small and medium enterprises and productive employment
- Encourage exports, IT services, and value-added industry
- Simplify the tax and regulatory environment for young entrepreneurs
- Prioritise financial inclusion of women and rural youth
Suggestions from citizens, professionals, and civil-society groups are welcome and will be considered as these drafts are refined.
